BIOGRAFIE:

Masha Jaklitsch, also Pauline Jaklitsch, is an austrian artist and feminist from graz, who is based in vienna too. She does yoga since 2005. Having studied visual arts at the rietveld academie in amsterdam and physical theatre at the école lecoq in paris and estudis berty tovias in barcelona, Masha/Pauline/Lilli/Ulli has got a university background in linguistics and languages in graz (BA), vienna and amsterdam (unfinished MA). Since 2022 Masha is with artist-led-space in graz in the margaretenbadviertel. More so, Masha lives in vienna again making it count here.

Chapitre 1: La Bohème!

          The moon hangs low in my heart and I can see it far above in the heavens, shining nevertheless. Shining brighter than a christmas tree, calling me up, saying: "I think of you always!" Any photo that does the moon unjustice forgotten. Rotten times. The love comes through. To me and you. This year a better place, a reversed chase. XMas won, they lost again; we win again. I think of you, it means the world to me. It is the world where I belong. Only here I can't go wrong. Play a song. Before it's gone!

          The heavens and their glases of prosecco looking lost. Waiting for us all come home!

Chapitre 3: Avant; Die Weihnachtskrippe 1

          "Orlando, stell dich mal da hin." The Curator (Kuri).
"Nein, ich will nicht das Schaf sein!" insists Orlando.
"C'mon, Lendi! You're the perfect cast!": She.
"I want to be Maria." Lendi in an elaborated tone.
"Das wird böse enden!" adds The Woman With The Red Scarf just before hell broke lose.

          Originally the roles had been decided on by drawing lots. Just that seconds from it all were completely dissatisfied so that the suggestion to take a simple vote seemed the only remedy; which was a disaster. It was like a market place. She/Elle going to lengths with her charms to score the role of Jesus. He wanting to be Jesus too. Il Maestro/La Maestra pretending not to care at all until being elected to do the donkey. Mimi wanted to be the sheep and was immediately claimed no to, - in a million years - being able to convince the audience ("ANY AUDIENCE!!!") in this role. The Curator finally put an end to it, five hours from what should have been working on an installation shining with love and peacefulness, by saying: "Why don't we just go with the flow?!"

          However, not only that the roles were heavily under discussion, the whole set-up was put into question.
"Offending! It's completely offending!"
"Historically inaccurate!"
"A matter of systematic cancelling!"
"Naive!"
"Sad!"
"Outrageous!"
Politically incorrect!"
"Weirdly translated!"
"PATRIARCHAL!!!!!!"
The only role decided on was   The Star   . Elle/She would shine a light, The eternal light, impersonating   The Star  .
"It is politically incorrect, though!"

          Bribery. Corruption. Darkness. Prosecco. Cigarettes. Oversexed dancing. Jealousy. Frantic conversation. Laughter that drew the human soul further and further into the abyss of cynicism so meak, it drew the attention of the neighbours, who rang the doorbell and innocently exclaimed: "We've heard some noise! Is everything okay?!?"
"This is synthesizer music!" ZigZag smashed towards them. "WE ARE REHEARSING OUR WEIHNACHTSKRIPPE, UNSERE CHRISTMAS CRIB, OKAY-IEH?"
"Oh,... we see!" Looks back and forth among them. "We could be of help! Give you a hand maybe?!"
La Maestro/Il Maestra looked at The Curator and Mimi and said: "We are inklusiv!"
Character T and a few others moved into the crowded place. Crowded and overshadowed with energies waiting only to be re-activated at any moment. Radio-active! Splendid! Marvelous! Ugly! Sexy-ugly! Unimaginable! A sheer horror! Great.

          The Woman With The Red Scarf withdrew and became mind and mind only, again!

          The Chef got to work immediately: "Breakfast? Breakfast anyone?" The atmosphere changed into... The Barista some gestures. A miracle.

          ... Orlando said silently: "I actually want to be the sheep. ...but noone takes me seriously!" The phone rang: 'Character A ruft an... ruft an... ruft an...! "You have a Nokia?!!"
"Ziggy is the sheep now, Lendi!" The Curator said in a just tone.
"But I want to be the fcukNg bolody donkey!"
A sound emerged from Ziggy's mouth never heard before.
It was a weird mixture of a scream, a shout, a grin and a cunning laugh.

Chapitre 5: Noël; Die Weihnachtskrippe 3

          It was to late.
"Why are we doing this?! ...XMas is long gone! It's over! It's to late for the christmas crib!" Orlando said full of disappointment.
The "New Year's"-banner was in Arbeit im Atelier but timewise also lagging way behind.
"We do the XMas crib..." Kuri being interrupted by La Maestra/Il Maestro:
"Our christmas crib!"
Exchanging looks being in charge here: "... tomorrow and the "Prosit Neujahr!" banner..."
"Our "Prosit Neujahr!"-banner!"
"... in a few, within the next few days!"
Die Stimmung war gerettet.

UNDER THE SEA XMas-crib:

          The decor/set design would be placed on the carpet, usually marking the stage for the band-sessions in the Atelier. All running back and forth, to and fro', putting the music instruments into the Curator's room/Atelier in the studio; Everyone was carrying something. It had been agreed on that all performers would be wearing black, so not to disturb the intended aesthetic discussed to be more neutral than in more traditional depictions of this ancient scene. Heaps of things and artistic (some - or most - half-finished) objects laying around would make it difficult for The Editor/Die Schneiderin to film from different angles. The Editor, however, was very chill and super-pragmatic about it. The Editor stated that this was all just a matter of expertise and experience really! The Set Designer kissed The Editor, who reacted with slight nervousity and enthusiasm just before grounding herself/himself again in the usual abgebrühte Sexiness. Thus, the Generalprobe began:


          Tatooage and Piercing, having just arrived, seemed slightly bored and ennerved. Why had they not been included?

SOMMER

          Abundance. A sun dance. Danced like the moon to the stars. Secrets in boxes. Mind the foxes. Gaps between places. Hiding your traces. The summer warmth in the concrete. The coolness of the tiles mapping it all. The room, the space, cultivated pace. Our space. Our house. The garden we would like to have. Leaving you space. And a forgotten trace where you have been. Together alone.

          "Attends! Il y a...": Maître de Danse/Metteur en scène "..., si on le travaillerait, la possibilité d'une deuxième ouverture. De nouveau, les figures contrôlés entrent avec un esprit de gravité légère. Quoi est-ce que tu pense?" Maître regardait Elle/She. "Est-ce que tu est prête de devenir - pour des instants - ce qu'on veut bien que tu vienne après la tempête?" Elle / She n'hésite pas.
"Mais je ne suis pas prête!" Tout le monde rit. Abundance!

          Elle / She commence à danser. ...et bien sûre quelle était prête. Elle fait une entrée / Elle /She makes for an entrance; people blushed. Everyone rushed, on stage, towards their points, to and from and back and forth. Ziggy leaning towards Maître: "We'll have to clean this up a bit." La Maestra/Il Maestro laughs shortly. The phone starts ringing in silent mode. "Okay, ça suffit pour aujourd'hui!" ZigZag says and answers the phone sensibly heading out of the salle. "...Kuri? Yes, we are working on it. ...Yes, both are at/with the rehearsal, today. The feedback round. They're all stretching now. Re-laxing!... Yes, of course. What should I bring?"
          It is spring!

          "Summer. L'été . C'est l'été." Orlando.

          Glacier ice melting. Fries in public pools and children running speeded by the heat, ground on the cracked concrete. Ketchup, Mayonnaise und Zahnstocher. Soaked and soaking up the sun. Splendid kidneys and a nove-peace-of-mind-état. Wheels of bikes, bigger, smaller, wanting, yearning for a new one. Summer luvs highly unimpressed. Xtremely obsessed. The grass beneath the toes, sound of Badeschlapfen all around. City bikes and Klappstühle, Abendkühle, Spritzer-time! Words floating on the water, through the sea, the sand washed and castles into the ocean saved in memory eternally. The waking up the not sleeping, the moving white sheets on tanned, burned skin, the movement of the waves within, part of the sea, eternally. Éternellement amoureux/euse de vous deux. Quatre, six, sept. Gefühle schnell versteckt. Shells for sweets, pizza to discard the creeps.

          Old men playing boule a thousand times. The italian toilets on the beach, hygienic shrine. Crime, pocket thieves or sunglasses for it. Caps hiding the head, no longer dead. I tried to say one word or two. I wrote a poem for you. Don't ignore me any more. Let me feel I score. Scored and loving rejection, dreaming and motherly affection. Turned into something new. I knew, that you pretend while in the end, in the end, summer is over. I put on my pullover. Freezing in towels seeing sun coming through the Frotté. Soon it'll be passé. Passé passée passing again for you and you, home to late-night-dinner with love, heading for a drink, dancing night through, at the brink of dawn a final kiss. On the beach, too many creeps.

Bon soir!
Today I share some of my artistic process. I have worked on UNDER THE SIGN x SIGNS for the past months and would like to tease a bit. I go from the preperation phase to an experimental phase (most likely to do more preperation and discussion). So here the experimentation of audio-sign 1. There are three audio-files working with one loop and quite a bit of variation. I will further condense this and then, hopefully, end up with a minimal audio-sign-1.

The location to imagine this sound sphere to be around is the Acconci Murinsel, in Graz. I hope you enjoy this!!!!!! !

Hello Everyone!
This post is an announcement. I work on the continuation of the text UNDER THE SEA with the full title being UNDER THE SEA x SIGNS. With a background in dance/choreography, the visual arts and linguistics this project is semiotics paired with choreography multiplied into all that one would imagine to be painting. If you happen to wanting to know more about semiotics, this is the place to be. This is the weirdest kind of open-source-souce and it is nothing less than wanting world peace to travel to the moon again. Stay tuned!
